3 For purposes of Finance Code §59.009, the term "financial institution" is defined in §59.001(5) as having "the meaning assigned by Section 201.101, except that the term does not include a financial institution organized under the laws of another state or organized under federal law with its main office in another state that does not maintain a branch or other office in this state." Finance Code §201.101(1) defines "financial institution" broadly, including a bank, savings bank, savings and loan association, credit union, and certain other regulated entities, regardless of its state or country of incorporation.
